World Touring Car hero Muller in WRC return

Story from www.wrc.com

The reigning World Touring Car champion will partner Dani Sordo in the Prodrive WRC Team for the Tarmac encounter in Strasbourg in Muller’s native Ardeche region from 4-7 October.
Muller, who has tackled his home round of the world championship twice before, once in a Citroen Xsara WRC and last year in a Peugeot 207 Super 2000, sampled his new mount at Prodrive’s test track in July and admitted to being a fan of the turbocharged machine.
“I have only had a day to familiarise myself with the MINI, but the balance of the chassis immediately gave me a great deal of confidence,” said Muller, who will test again at the venue in the United Kingdom in the build-up to the rally. “As both my Chevrolet touring car and the MINI use similar 1.6 turbo engines, the performance was nearly the same. I am sure it will take me a little while to get used to driving with pace notes again, even so my target would still be a finish in the points.”
Muller has won the WTCC title on three occasions after enjoying a successful career in single-seater racing. He has also tackled the Dakar Rally in the past and follows in the footsteps of another circuit racer and Dakar exponent, Eliseo Salazar, by driving the Prodrive-developed MINI in the WRC.
Prodrive WRC Team principal rates the 43-year-old very highly and believes he can impress: “In Prodrive's British Touring car days in 1998-2000 I engineered several cars and we had great battles with Yvan. This will be the first time we have been on the same side. He is a tremendously talented driver with great sympathy for a car and I think the MINI WRC chassis will suit him perfectly for the fast flowing stages in France. He has competed there twice before and once he has settled in for a few stages I can see him setting some impressive times.”
The identity of Muller’s co-driver is currently unclear.

Oil Leak Fails Rossi Earn Make Target in the Czech Republic

INbolnet -   Valentino Rossi intention to finish closer to the leading rider in the MotoGP dashed Republic, Sunday (26/8). In the race, his bike Desmosedici GP12 oil leak.

Smoke seemed out of the motor Rossi throughout the race. Although the oil leak does not affect engine performance, Rossi run into problems when the oil begins to flow into the stirrups.

"I did a good start. Stage early in the race is not too bad although my bike is leaking oil," said Rossi. "Oil flows into the footrest and brake lever.'s Very disturbing."

In the race, Rossi was sent had to settle for fifth place finish in seventh position. "If there is no problem, maybe I can finish better than Andrea," said Rossi, Andrea Dovizioso mention who finished fourth.

Italian rider also states that the rear tires lose grip and hold the bike. "I also have to go much slower because the rear tires always have slippage. That's always been an issue with us," added the Doctor.

Rossi and Ducati do not undergo the official MotoGP test held in the Czech Republic on Monday (27/8). They will conduct a closed test circuit in Misano, San Marino on 28-29 August.

Three titles at stake!

Only a week after the Grand Prix Husaberg of Sweden, the Maxxis FIM Enduro World Championship takes the direction of Finland and more precisely in Heinola for the 7th and penultimate race of the season.Seven years later! After Riihimäki in 2009 and the ISDE last year, Finland found back the EWC on his land and Suomen Moottoriliitto ry (SML) has decided, with the approval of the Federation International of Motorcycling (FIM), to give the honor to host this step to Heinolan Moottorikerho ry, seven years after its first organization on the EWC. Indeed, this Moto Club, chaired by Ville VALVE, is not at its first organization of a EWC Grand Prix in Finland has they organized a step in Heinola in 2005. This club is very experienced as it is also the origin of multiple rounds of Motocross World Championship (1992, 1994, 1996, 1998 and 2008).The Heinola Moottorikerho ry drew a 55 km track that racers must make 4 times during the two days of racing with two time check at every turn. The paddock is situated in the center of Heinola. The Xtreme Test should be 3 minutes length, the Enduro Test (11 minutes) and the KTM Super Test on Friday evening will be held at Motocross Stadium. The Cross Test (6 minutes) will be located in Lusiin. Note that as in Karlsborg, the terrain is very sandy.Heinola, which was founded in 1776, is located in the region of Päijät-Häme. The city covers an area of 835.9 kms2 with 20,735 inhabitants, is situated on a moraine between the lakes Ruotsalainen and Konnivesi and near the starting point of the river Kymijoki. Town surrounded by many municipalities, it is also the border with Kymenlaakso and South Savoni. Heinola is internationally known for being the host city of the World Championships of sauna resistance which takes place every summer since 1998! This city of the Southern-center of Finland is located 140 kilometers north of the capital, Helsinki.MEO for a third title in a row?The context is simple in Enduro 1. With 46 points ahead of his teammate Eero REMES (SF - KTM), Antoine MEO (FRA - KTM) must win one of the two days and then secure a place in the Top 5 to become a third time in a row World Champion. No doubt that this title of World Champion in the land of his friend Mika AHOLA is very close to his heart but the task is not that easy. Indeed, the French will face REMES, and Matti SEISTOLA (FIN - HVA), both revenge on their own land. It will also depend on Thomas OLDRATI (I - KTM) who made a great Swedish step and has the means to target the final podium while Rodrig THAIN (F - HM Honda) must at all costs to redress the balance. We will have also to take care to the official Sherco Fabien PLANET (F - Sherco) in full form at the moment and will be boosted by his Swedish successful resul ts but also Antti HELLSTEN (SF - TM) will have at heart to do well in his countries. In the Enduro 2 class, this is another partition that is being played. Indeed, Pierre-Alexandre RENET (F - Husaberg) has resumed the leadership and has 5 points ahead of Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP - KTM) and 14 on the Finnish machine Juha SALMINEN (HVA). The intensity and suspense should be at their peak. The official HVA has an important advantage as he is the local of the event. For his part, Cristobal GUERRERO, in trouble on the shores of Vattern Lake, will have to recover quickly if he doesn't want to see his title chances dwindle while Pierre-Alexandre RENET must be looking to lock his two pursuers. Do not forget Ivan CERVANTES (E - Gas Gas) and Johnny AUBERT (F - KTM), who, even if they have nothing to play they might act as referees of luxury in this fight for the title. Finally, the Italian Alex SALVINI (I - HVA) for its part should work for his leader Juha SALMINEN.NAMBOTIN the first day?A second ring could be awarded in Finland in the Enduro 3 class. To succeed to Mika AHOLA, calculations are even simpler than in Enduro 1. With 65 points ahead, Christophe NAMBOTIN (F - KTM) must provide at least a podium on Saturday. Knowing the will of the French, no doubt he will seek only one thing: the victory. But a trio with long teeth will look to avoid it: Joakim LJUNGGREN (S - Husaberg) Aigar LEOK (EST - TM) and David KNIGHT (GB - KTM). The official TM, full of confidence after his two beautiful second places last week serves as a serious candidate to counter the KTM rider but LJUNGGREN is not so far and foremost seek to consolidate its second position in the standing. After a difficult GP of Sweden, David KNIGHT wants reassurance and remains the only driver who was able to bring down NAMBOTIN this season. Do not forget Marko TARKKALA (SF - Beta), also "at home" and who intends to sign his first podium of the year, Manuel MONNI (I - KTM) wrote a very good Grand Prix in Sweden and Oriol MENA (E - Husaberg) that targets a place in the final Top 5.Finally, in Enduro Junior, the redhead Mathias BELLINO (F - Husaberg) seeks again the perfect weekend to be titled as early as Sunday. Impressive in Karlsborg, it lacks more than a few points for the Grail belongs to him. But Jonathan MANZI (I - KTM) who is the only one taking victories to Husaberg rider will not give up and throw all his forces to avoid BELLINO to be titrated from this weekend. The pack of young wolves led by Danny MCCANNEY (GB - Gas Gas), Kevin BENAVIDES (ARG - KTM), Edoardo D'AMBROSIO (I - KTM), Rudy MORONI (I - KTM) and Victor GUERRERO (ESP - KTM) could have their words to say. In FIM Youth Cup 125cc, Giacomo REDONDI (I - KTM), already titled, see k to calibrate against the junior racers. For his part, Matteo BRESOLIN (I - Husaberg) wants to ensure the second place in the standings. With all the contexts that surround the Grand Prix Radio SuomiPop of Finland, no doubt that this second Scandinavian step should be a vintage where many feel should be mixed. Pilots should know pressure, suspense but also outstanding joy. A tribute will also be made to Mika AHOLA. See you on September 1st and 2nd in Heinola for the seventh and penultimate Grand Prix of the Maxxis FIM Enduro World Championship where a strong public number is expected.Information:-    Heinola (Region of Päijät-Häme);-    140 kilometers North from Helsinki;-    Friday 31st of August: KTM Super Test: 19.00-    Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of September: Start: 9.00 and Finnish at 16.00;-    Organisation: Heinola Moottorikerho ry;-    Websites: www.enduro-abc.com and http://www.hemk.net/mm;-    Track: 55kms – 4 laps;-    Free Access;-    Airport: Helsinki (140 kms)Communication Enduro World Championship - www.enduro-abc.com -

Crutchlow and Dovizioso finish 1-2 in Brno MotoGP test

Cal Cruthclow Brno Test 2012

Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team riders Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso finished first and second at the end of a successful one-day MotoGP test session at the Brno circuit today.

Less than 24 hours after claiming a stunning debut MotoGP podium in the bwin Grand Prix Ceske Republiky, Crutchlow was back in the groove im mediately today and he managed to assess a range of different YZR-M1 settings in 47 laps completed.

The British rider carried out the majority of his laps on worn Bridgestone tyres and he was still able to set a fast and consistent pace throughout, his best time of 1.56.461 putting him at the top of the timesheets by 0.117s ahead of Dovizioso. Fourth in yesterday's 22-lap race, Dovizioso too tried different set-up options and his prime focus was on improving mid-corner speed with his YZR-M1 machine.

The Italian set a best time of 1.56.578 and with his test schedule complete ahead of the 1pm lunch break, Dovizioso didn't return to the track for the afternoon session. He is now looking forward to a short break before returning to action for his all-important home race at the Misano track on September 16.

Cal Crutchlow
"It was a good test and I was really pleased with my times. We did the whole morning and the first run of the afternoon on the same r ear tyre and it was an old one from qualifying on Saturday. I did a 56.9 on it, which is basically as fast as my race pace and it had 44 laps on it. We tried some different settings but the only problem I have with this bike now is we make some big changes but the lap time is the same, so you never know which direction to go in. In practice for the race on Friday I struggled with the hard tyre but today I tested it again and I was lot faster and consistent as well, so that was a big positive. We can leave Brno really happy because it has been a great weekend. I signed a new contract with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team, got my best grid position, scored my first ever MotoGP podium and then set the fastest time at the test today. We can go to Misano in a positive frame of mind and I'm confident we will be challenging close to the front again.”

Andrea Dovizioso
“It was a positive test today because we tried to understand if a different set-up could help give me more corner speed compared to the race, particularly in the middle of the corner. We found some positive and negative points with the changes we made so it was good to experiment with the set-up and we have found a direction to help me be faster in the middle of the corner. We tried something on the front but this didn't make such a big difference, so it is clearer now that the im provements have to come from the rear to give me more speed in the middle of the corner. The grip was quite good but the wind was very strong and it was really difficult to do the lap time, so I am happy we made a small improvement and I'm looking forward to seeing how some of the changes we tried work at the next race in Misano."

Randy De Puniet rounds off fantastic weekend with eighth place finish

Randy De Puniet Brno 2012

Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo grabbed the headlines at the Czech Republic GP. Pedrosa had dominated practice, whilst Lorenzo had taken pole in qualifying. The duo were the obvious candidates for the race win, and that was precisely how things turned out on Sunday. Lorenzo opened things up in the lead, before Pedrosa moved in front on lap twelve. On the final lap, Lorenzo mounted an attack, responded to by Pedrosa on the penultimate corner as he got back in front and closed the door. Pedrosa won from Lorenzo, with Cal Crutchlow third.

Randy De Puniet erased a sour memory of Indianapolis from his mind with a determined display at Brno. The POWER ELECTRONICS Aspar rider was highly motivated ahead of the Czech Republic Grand Prix, having clocked the fastest pace of the CRT riders in practice. Today he was the best of the new class in MotoGP by some distance. In the end he placed eighth, ahead of prototype machines and with reason to be pleased with his ride.

Aleix Espargaró was the only rider able to come close to De Puniet on Sunday. The Spaniard was hoping to take the fight to his teammate, but a dip in track temperatures caught him out. His bike slid about underneath him at the start of the race, as De Puniet broke away. He eventually found a way of riding around the issue, finishing tenth and taking six more points for his tally at the top of the CRT standings.

8th Randy De Puniet: “Today went so well that I even managed to pass a number of prototype machines off the line. I am happy, because I think that both the team and I have done a great job this weekend. I stuck behind Rossi at the start and could see that there was smoke coming from his bike on every lap. Spies dropped the pace and I kept on pushing. I was praying that the smoke did not mean that the engine would break down completely and leave oil on the track. When the situation stabilised I could focus on my own race. Spies overtook me and I used him as a reference for a while. Soon afterwards he crashed out, so I was left by myself. In practice I had found a fast pace, so I focused on getting back to that and riding strongly to the chequered flag. I am very happy, because I managed to finish as the best CRT rider and cut two points off my teammate’s advantage.”

10th Aleix Espargaró: “I’m a little week from the flu, but in the race I felt more or less ok. The track temperature today had dropped a lot and that affected us. From the start I could feel the bike sliding out a lot. I got a good start, but Randy escaped straight away. He was just faster than me, taking three tenths of a second out of my times with every lap. When I got passed by the Ducatis I tried to stay with them, but it was hard to ride with them. On the straight they took off and on the corners I was back amongst Elías and Abraham. I got as close as I could on the final laps. Toni and I exchanged passes on the last lap on three or four nccasions, and in the end I won out. I was expecting a little better from the race, as I thought that we had a little more pace. Still, I am happy to have taken points and to continue to lead the CRT standings.”

Marquez wins a tense four-way tussle to take his sixth Moto2 victory

Marc Marquez Brno 2012

Marc Marquez (Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol-Suter) won a tense four-way tussle with Thomas Luthi (Interwetten-Paddock-Suter), Pol Espargaro (Pons 40 HP Tuenti-Kalex) and Andrea Iannone (Speed Master – Speed Up) to take his sixth victory of 2012 in the always thrilling Honda-powered series. Marquez’s winning margin over Luthi was just 0.061s, while the four riders were covered by just half a second. With six races to go, Marquez heads Espargaro by 48 points.

The ever-impressive Marquez played his hand perfectly, spending nearly all the race in second place, while Luthi did all the leading. Right behind them Espargaro and Iannone swapped places frequently. Both of them briefly made it into second place but didn’t quite have the pace to stay there.

Marquez made his winning move at turn three with three laps to go, sweeping past Luthi, backing into the corner and yet keeping his Suter perfectly on line. Luthi was able to stay with the 19-year-old and tried everything he knew to retake the lead but couldn’t quite make it.

The duel between Espargaro and Iannone was just as intense, and complicated somewhat when Espargaro made a pass under yellow flags. He was ordered to drop back to fourth to escape punishment and although he tried everything to get back on terms with the leading duo – including setting the fastest lap – he could not get close enough to attack. Espargaro finished less than three tenths behind Luthi, with last year’s Brno winner Iannone less than a tenth further back in fourth.

Marc Marquez, Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol-Suter: race winner
“Yesterday in practice I felt very comfortable; I knew that I was ready for the race and that I could be up at the front, and also that nobody could escape with us all running a similar pace. That was how it panned out, because there was less grip today, but I still rode comfortably. That was how I was able to study Luthi over the course of the race. The pace was slower than I had expected and I was able to make a plan for the final laps. When there were three to go I gave 100% to get in front, then on the last lap I closed every door in order to win. It was a different tactic to normal, but this track is a difficult one for me and I wanted to keep something in reserve.”

Vettel appears in Melanie Fiona music video | 2012 F1 season

Sebastian Vettel, Melanie Fiona, 2012Sebastian Vettel makes an appearance in the video for American R&B performer Melanie Fiona’s new song “Watch me Work”.

The two-times world champion appears alongside Fiona at the wheel of an Infiniti G37. The road car manufacturer is a sponsor of Red Bull and Vettel put his name to a special edition of the car earlier this year.

Here’s Vettel in the video:

The video was filmed in New Jersey while Vettel made a recent visit to the location of the 2013 Grand Prix of America.

“It was a great experience to shoot a music video, and certainly very different to what I’m used to,” said Vettel. “But music is without question an inspiration to many and I’m very proud to have been part of this. I think the lyrics are quite fitting to what we can all do if we put our mind to it.”

Fiona said: “It’s not often you get the chance to be driven by an F1 world champion and when the opportunity came up to have Seb driving me in the video I was like, yes please!

“This is one of my favourite songs and one that I’ve been wanting to put out for a while so to have him involved was great.”

More on the making of the video in this “behind the scenes” feature including interviews with Vettel and Fiona:

2012 Brno Post-Race MotoGP Test Times At 4pm: Crutchlow Ahead Of Dovizioso And Lorenzo

Cal Crutchlow is the fastest man of the test so far at Brno, taking over from his Tech 3 teammate at the top of the timesheet. Jorge Lorenzo is 3rd quickest, spending more time this afternoon on the 2012 bike rather than the 2013 prototype, while Loris Capirossi is already ahead of Colin Edwards on the Aprilia ART bike, even though Capirossi is only testing the bikes to check their behavior with the tires. So far, there have been no more crashes, though Cal Crutchlow was forced to abandon a non-functioning bike at the side of the track a short while ago.
