Charly Demathieu - The Trial Results Master

Whilst many things have changed since the inception of the FIM Trial World Championship back in 1975, one person has been a constant in the paddock for nearly forty years. Now recognised as the Results Manager - Belgium born Charly Demathieu begun his Trial career as a mechanic to Eddy Lejeune's older brother Jean-Marie back in 1976. However it was his magnetic scoreboard, which he first introduced at his home Trial GP in 1980 that was to make Charly well known the World over. Responsible for the results service for the Spanish Trial Championship for eighteen years from 1992, Demathieu built up a close working relationship with now FIM Executive Director, Sport - Ignacio Verneda who was then in charge of this domestic series before he became President of the FIM Trial Commission en route to his current position. It was this dedication that saw Charly appointed as the Results Manager for the FIM Trial World Championship back in the mid nineties, and since then he has been single-handedly responsible for this service. The now sixty year old attended his 500th Trial GP in this role at the Japanese Grand Prix last season, and has not missed a round of the series since he was given the role.
