Márquez completes first full day in dry conditions
Kubica in demand for 2013
The Polish ace, whose grand prix career has been put on hold due to injury, is considering a switch to rallying and has entered several events of late while he returns to fitness following his crash in Italy in February 2011.
He came close to winning the French championship-counting Rallye du Var last week - the second of two events he was tackling in a Citroen Racing-supported C4 WRC - only to crash out on the penultimate stage while leading.
Citroen boss Yves Matton liked what he saw - despite Kubicas car being destroyed by fire in the accident - and is keen to extend the relationship with Kubica.
We are interested to do something more with Robert and it can be possible to do something with the DS3 WRC next season, Matton told Autosport. We run three cars some times, but this year we have run as many as five cars, so it would be possible for us to have a car for him to use. What we need to find is the budget, its sure that we cannot just give the car to him - but I think it is possible for him to find a partner.
If Kubica, who tested a Ford Fiesta RS WRC in the summer, did join Citroen then he could link up with nine-time world champion Sebastien Loeb on occasion. Loeb is set to tackle up to five rounds in 2013 under his partial programme of events.

Decision time for ace Evans
The ace Briton will shortly be required to choose his preferred prize drive for next season but also needs to recruit a co-driver having worked with three different navigators during his title-winning campaign.
Evans prize for capturing the young driver-training category crown is a choice of five WRC rounds in a Super 2000-specification Ford Fiesta or a full programme in a Fiesta R2.
The 23-year-old said: Im still not sure what format my prize for 2013 will take. It could be 13 WRC events in a Ford Fiesta R2 or five events in the Super 2000 equivalent. Id like to do as many WRC events as possible, but Id also like to get more four-wheel-drive experience so well have to wait and see.
Evans was co-driven by Andrew Edwards, Phil Pugh and Seb Marshall in 2012. He now needs to select his partner for next term.
I changed co-driver to Phil for Greece and that worked out fantastically well, said Evans. We won four out of four rounds together. He brought a lot of good experience and really got involved. I would have loved to have kept working with him, but he couldnt commit to the future for both personal and work reasons. I sat with a new co-driver for Spain with a view to next year and beyond, but as yet I havent confirmed wholl be my navigator next season.
Whatever the choices he makes for 2013, Evans says he has learned plenty during his stint in the WRC Academy, which will be renamed the Junior WRC Championship for next year when M-Sport-prepared Fiesta R2s will continue to be used as standard.
Id only done three WRC events before this season and only two of those [Finland and France] were on this years WRC Academy calendar, Evans explained. To experience WRC rallies is a massive learning curve. The WRC Academy was an affordable way to gain this experience in a competitive field.

Bottas: “I’ve missed racing a great deal” | 2013 F1 season
Bottas: “I’ve missed racing a great deal” is an original article from F1 Fanatic. If this article has been published anywhere other than F1 Fanatic it is an infringement of copyright.
New Williams driver Valtteri Bottas says he’s eager to get back to racing after spending a year testing for the team.
His only outings this year have come during 15 free practice sessions during race weekends.
“I’m a naturally very competitive person and I’ve been competing in triathlons throughout 2012 to keep fit and keep my mind sharp,” said Bottas in a Q&A published by the team.
“Obviously I’ve missed racing a great deal so can’t wait to get back onto a starting grid, but I’ve been racing constantly since a very young age so when the lights go out in Australia It will be business as usual.”
His practice outings will be a “big help”, he added. “It means there are only a handful of circuits on the 2013 calendar that I have never driven, in Australia, Monaco, Valencia, Austin and Singapore. There will still be a lot of work to do but it means that I do have some knowledge to work from heading to most races next season.”
Bottas denied his connection to Williams executive director Toto Wolff had a bearing on him taking the seat for 2013: “Toto is part of my management team and has always supported by career, but because of his involvement with Williams he wasn’t part of the negotiations for my contract with the team.
“As with all decisions at Williams, Sir Frank [Williams] and the board of directors get to make the final decision. I’m grateful to Toto for helping introduce me to the Williams F1 Team, but it has been up to me to prove to Frank and the rest of the team that I have the talent and commitment to deliver the results they desire.”
He said he is unsure how competitive he can be in his first year of Formula One: “It’s difficult to set objectives before the season starts, so I’m just trying to make the most of this opportunity to prove the team has been right to promote me to a race seat.
“I want to look back on 2013 and feel that I’ve improved as a driver and helped the team improve its performance on the track.”
“As a team I think we should be aiming to score more points than this year and really get the most out of the car,” he added. “Personally I hope to look back and feel that I have learnt a lot and developed as a driver over the course of the season, having scored a lot of points for the team.”
Team principal Frank Williams said that having Bottas in the teams for three years already is a “big advantage”:
“He spends a lot of time in the factory so has managed to develop good relationships and knows how we like to operate. By that token we also know how he likes to work, which is crucial as developing a car throughout the season requires good two way communication.
“Having a new driver who has spent three seasons testing the car and conducting extensive simulator work means that he is as prepared for his first season as you can get.”

FIA confirms Vettel’s pass on Vergne was legal | 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix
FIA confirms Vettel’s pass on Vergne was legal is an original article from F1 Fanatic. If this article has been published anywhere other than F1 Fanatic it is an infringement of copyright.
The FIA has confirmed Sebastian Vettel did not break the rules concerning overtaking under yellow flags when passing Jean-Eric Vergne during the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Ferrari confirmed they sent the FIA a letter requesting an investigation into whether Vettel illegally overtook the Toro Rosso on lap four on the Reta Oposta straight.
Yellow flags and lights prohibiting overtaking were visible in the run-up to the pass but a green flag indicating drivers could overtake was difficult to see
FIA race director Charlie Whiting told Auto Motor und Sport Vettel had passed a green flag before completing the move. The FIA later confirmed to Autosport the pass was legal.
Had Vettel been retroactively punished for the move, a penalty could have lost him the world championship to Fernando Alonso.
See this forum thread for earlier discussion of the incident.

Marquez boosted by dry mileage
Marc Marquez believes his confidence on the Honda MotoGP bike is growing after finally getting his first full day of dry testing at Sepang on Tuesday. Having lost a lot of running to rain on Monday and in the previous test at Valencia, Marquez managed 60 laps on a dry track on day two of his test at the Malaysian Grand Prix venue

Things MotoGP Can Learn From F1: Part 1 - The Business Symposium
Since the global financial crisis struck back in 2008, MotoGP's primary focus has been on cutting costs. These efforts have met with varying success - sometimes reducing costs over the long term, after a short term increase, sometimes having no discernible impact whatsoever - and as a result, the grids in all three classes are filling up again. Further changes are afoot - chiefly, the promise by Honda and Yamaha to supply cheaper machinery to private teams, either in the form of production racers, such as Honda's RC213V clone, or Yamaha's offer to lease engines to chassis builders - but there is a limit to how much can be achieved by cutting costs. What is really needed is for the series to raise its revenues, something which the series has signally failed to do.
In truth, the series has never really recovered from the loss of tobacco sponsorship, something for which it should have been prepared, given that it had had many years' warning of the ruling finally being applied. The underlying problem was that the raising of sponsorship had been outsourced and the marketing of the series had been outsourced to a large degree to the tobacco companies, and once they left - with the honorable, if confusing, exception of Philip Morris - those skills disappeared with them. There was nobody left to try to increase the amount of money coming into the sport.

2013 Provisional Moto2 Line Up Announced: Espargaro Favorite In Kalex-Dominated Grid
The FIM today announced the provisional entry list for the Moto2 class in 2013. As in Moto3, the champion has moved up, Marc Marquez having made the jump to MotoGP, leaving Pol Espargaro as the man to beat. With a new combined rider/bike weight limit, larger riders should have less of a disadvantage, improving Scott Redding's chances, though Thomas Luthi, Julian Simon and Alex de Angelis are all likely to feature at the front once again.
The Moto2 class sees a number of rookies enter for 2013. Sandro Cortese is the biggest name, the reigning Moto3 champion entering inside a team built entirely around him, and running WP suspension. He is joined in Moto2 by former teammate Danny Kent, the young Briton going to the Tech 3 team where he will ride alongside French rookie Louis Rossi. Two Indonesians also enter the class, Doni Tata Pradita making a return to Grand Prix with the Gresini squad, while Rafid Topan Sucipto joins Ant West in the QMMF Team, after wildcarding at Valencia. A familiar Japanese name also makes his return, this time in a managerial capacity. Tady Okada will be running the Honda Racing Asia Tady team, running Moriwaki chassis and likely to field Yuki Takahashi.
